| Maserati 450S 1957, chassis n°3501/4501 |
|
The car with chassis
number 3501, the first
real 350S, attended 1956 Mille Miglia (race n. 554) with Moss and
Jenkinson. After its accident, in late spring 1956 the car was rebuilt as
the prototype of the new 450S with n. 4501 and new engine V8, 4.511 cc, n.4501.
This prototype 3501/4501, after having been forgotten in the factory has
been sold in 1965, without engine, with original construction certificate
(Tipo 350 SI n. 10) to USA. In 1970 it was sold again in California (plate
CA 285 BME) and in 1981 it has been sold to its actual owner. In 1982 a
whole restoration process started until 1987. Sea engine n.4519 was
installed. |
