Omega: presentato il nuovo Railmaster[:en]The new Omega Railmaster
L’ATTESA E’ FINITA. ERA IL 1957 QUANDO OMEGA LANCIO’ SUL MERCATO IL MODELLO RAILMASTER. SESSANTA ANNI DOPO, IL BRAND PROPONE UNA RI-EDIZIONE CON NOVITA’ SIA ESTETICHE SIA MECCANICHE.
L’Omega Railmaster, presentato nel 1957, era protetto da una cassa interna in grado di resistere a campi magnetici fino a 1.000 gauss (CK2915, calibro 321). L’orologio era infatti pensato per il personale ferroviario e per chiunque fosse a stretto contatto con i campi magnetici.
La sua ri-edizione monta invece il calibro Master Chronometer 8806, certificato dal METAS (Istituto Federale Svizzero di Metrologia) e in grado di resistere a campi magnetici di 15.000 gauss (15 volte più resistente dell’originale). Il meccanismo è alloggiato in una cassa in acciaio inox dal diametro di 40 millimetri.
Il quadrante, caratterizzato dal “binario” dei minuti, dal simbolo della croce di precisione e dal logo Railmaster, è di colore nero o grigio e spazzolato verticalmente in modo da conferire al segnatempo un tocco di raffinata eleganza. Gli indici delle ore e dei minuti sono scavati e riempiti con SuperLuminova beige a regalare un effetto vintage look. Un ulteriore richiamo al mondo delle rotaie lo si ritrova nella lancetta “lollipop” dei secondi.
Il fondello, chiuso ed impreziosito dal medaglione con il cavalluccio marino lavorato a sbalzo, è caratterizzato dal design brevettato NAIAD LOCK che mantiene le parole incise perfettamente in posizione.
Impermeabile fino a 150 metri, l’orologio è proposto sia con un bracciale in acciaio (4.700 euro) sia con un cinturino in tessuto (4.600 euro).
THE RETURN. 60 YEARS LATER, IT WAS THE 1957 WHEN OMEGA RELEASED ITS FIRST RAILMASTER MODEL, THE SWISS WATCH BRAND PRESENTS A RE-RELEASE WITH A NEW STYLISH TOUCH AND A NEW MECHANICAL HEART.
In 1957, the Swiss watch brand Omega released its very first Railmaster model (CK2915, calibro 321). As the name suggests, the first Omega Railmaster was built for railway staff or anyone who worked close to electrical fields. Shielded by an inner protective case, the watch was able to resist magnetic fields of up to 1,000 gauss, guaranteeing reliable precision for the wearer.
The new Omega Railmaster is 15 times more resistant than the original thanks to its Master Chronometer Calibre 8806. Certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), the watch is able to withstand magnetism of 15,000 gauss.
The new vertically-brushed grey or black dial is instantly appealing and includes recessed hour-markers which are all filled with “vintage” Super-LumiNova. The dial also features a railway minute track, Omega’s “crosshair” symbol of precision, and a transferred beige “Railmaster” indication which delivers a classic touch. Finally, the baton-style hour and minute hands are complemented by the popular “lollipop” central seconds hand which has a close connection to the railways.
The 40 mm brushed symmetrical case is made from stainless steel and its wave-edged caseback features a NAIAD LOCK design (patent pending) to keep the wording upright.
It is water resistant to 15 bar (150m) and the closed caseback also includes the famous embossed Seahorse medallion.
Wearers can choose to have their Railmaster presented on a fully brushed and integrated stainless steel bracelet (4.700 euro) or on a brown leather NATO strap (4.600 euro).
