Volvo annuncia l‘inizio della produzione della nuova generazione del SUV medio XC60 nello stabilimento di Torslanda, Svezia. Il primo esemplare uscito dalle catene di montaggio è una XC60 T5 AWD in tinta cristal white.
“Questo è un giorno di cui tutti devono essere orgogliosi – dice Magnus Nilsson, vice president dell’impianto produttivo di Torslanda. Abbiamo lavorato molto duramente negli ultimi mesi e settimane per preparare Torslanda all’ultimo modello della gamma Volvo e siamo ora pronti per iniziare le consegne della XC60 ai clienti“.
L’XC60, quarto modello della famiglia Volvo basato sulla piattaforma SPA, rappresenta il 30% delle vendite globali Volvo e, nella sua penultima generazione è diventata il modello più venduto nel suo segmento.
L’ultima generazione è una delle vetture più sicure mai prodotte dal brand svedese. Il suo corredo di sicurezza, infatti, è particolarmente ricco: Steer Assist, City Safety system, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Pilot Assist (sistema avanzato di guida “semi” autonoma che gestisce, fino a 130 km/h, accelerazione, frenata e sterzata automatica).
L’XC60 si pone al vertice del segmento anche nell’ambito delle prestazioni: la T8 biturbo con motorizzazione ibrida, infatti, eroga 407 cavalli ed è capace di 5″3 sullo 0-100.
Torslanda plant in Sweden has started working hard again on a new model. The first new XC60, a T5 AWD Inscription in Crystal White, rolled off the production line.
“This is a proud day for everyone at the plant,” said Magnus Nilsson, vice president of the Torslanda plant. “We have worked hard in recent weeks and months to prepare Torslanda for this latest new Volvo model, and now we are ready to start delivering new XC60s to customers.”
The XC60 is the fourth model based on Volvo’s in-house-developed SPA vehicle architecture, following the introduction of the top-of-the-line 90 series in recent years. The SPA-related investments in Sweden have had positive effects on employment at the company, with thousands of new jobs added in production, research and development, and other areas.
The new XC60 is loaded with lots of new technology to keep the top of the range in the mid-size SUV segment:
Steer Assist has been added to the ground-breaking City Safety system. A new safety system called Oncoming Lane Mitigation uses Steer Assist to help mitigate head-on collisions, while Volvo’s Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) now uses Steer Assist functionality to reduce the risk of lane-changing collisions. Pilot Assist, Volvo’s advanced semi-autonomous driver-assistance system, which takes care of the steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 130 km/h, is available in the new XC60 as an option.
Great performance is a XC60’s special and important topic too: the T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid at the top of the powertrain range delivers 407 hp and is granted with a top acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.
