Quest’anno, Bell & Ross torna alla sua passione per la meccanica creando il Bellytanker, un’auto da corsa aerodinamica costruita a partire dal serbatoio di un caccia. Questo bolide retrofuturista strizza l’occhio al mondo dell’orologeria. Il metallo della carrozzeria richiama le casse degli orologi; il vetro che ricopre la cabina di pilotaggio ne ricorda i vetri ultra-bombati mentre i cerchi delle ruote color rame ricordano i quadranti degli orologi dell’epoca.
Partendo dal Bellytanker, Bell & Ross propone il cronografo Bell & Ross BR V2-94 Bellytanker con cassa (41 mm) in acciaio satinato che evoca i serbatoi del Mustang P-51.
Il suo cuore meccanico pulsante è il calibro automatico BR-CAL.301 (30 minuti alle ore 9 e 60 secondi centrali e datario visibile tra le 4 e le 5). La lunetta fissa è dotata di scala tachimetrica.
Il quadrante, protetto da vetro zaffiro ultra-bombato e antiriflesso, è color rame a riprendere i colori dei cerchi dell’auto. Questa scelta cromatica crea un forte contrasto visivo con i contatori cronografici neri.
L’acciaio di cassa, numeri e indici applicati è un chiaro riferimento alla carrozzeria affusolata del Bellytanker mentre il nero che riveste la linea di contorno della minuteria ne ricorda il muso. Le lancette scheletrate in metallo sono riempite di superluminova. Il contrappeso a forma di aereo sulla lancetta dei secondi fa parte della nuova firma stilistica di Bell & Ross.
E’ proposto sia con fondello trasparente con vista sul meccanismo sia con fondello pieno con inciso il profilo del Bellytanker B&R.
Il cronografo, impermeabile fino a 100 metri, è proposto con un cinturino in pelle di vitello marrone scuro con fibbia deployante (Ref. BRV294-BT-ST/SCA, 3.990 euro) oppure con un bracciale in acciaio lucido-satinato (Ref. BRV294-BT-ST/SST, 4.300 euro).

Bell & Ross has returned to its passion for engineering creating its retro-influenced Bellytanker racecar with missile-like aerodynamics. It is built using a fuel tank from a fighter plane. The streamlined racer Bellytanker is best known for taking part in speed trials on the huge salt lake flats of the North American West.
Bell & Ross has designed its own vehicle, taking these later versions of the Bellytanker as its inspiration. The metal of its bodywork is like the case of a watch, the glass covering its cockpit echoes an ultra-curved crystal, the copper-cultured trim evokes the dials of timepieces from this era. Its tail fin, designed to stabilize the vehicle, is a reference to the aviation codes, as is the matte black of its “nose”.
Inspired by the Bellytanker, Bell & Ross presented the cronograph BR V2-94 (automatic calibre BR-CAL 301) with two counters: a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock and a central 60-second counter. The date sits between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The satin-finished polished steel of this larger 41 mm case hints at the P-51 Mustang’s tanks. The crown and push buttons are screw-down for improved water-resistance (100 meters). The fixed bezel features a tachymeter scale.
The Panda dial, so-called because of the contrast between the black counters and gold dial, shows metal indices and numerals and metal skeleton hands filled with Superluminova.
The color scheme used matches that of the Bellytanker: the metallic copper of the dial echoes the color of the racer’s wheel rims, the black of the detailed line on the minute track is also found on the car’s nose and, finally, the steel used for the case, numerals, indices and hands is a nod to the vehicle’s sculpted bodywork. The aircraft-shaped counterweight on the second’s hand is one of the new Bell & Ross stylistic signatures.
The sapphire case-back allows glimpses of the chronograph mechanism’s gear train. The version with a solid case back features an engraved profile of the B&R Bellytanker.
There are two options of straps: a retro-inspired dark brown leather (Ref. BRV294-BT-ST/SCA, 3.990 euro) or a metal bracelet (Ref. BRV294-BT-ST/SST, 4.300 euro).
