Il nuovo Bulgari Octo Grande Sonnerie, pura esaltazione della meccanica di spessore, è un orologio one-off da vivere e ascoltare; un orologio “passionale” con il suo alternarsi di martelli, gong e carillon Westmister.
All’interno della cassa ottagonale in titanio di 44 millimetri di diametro è alloggiato il calibro di manifattura Bvl703 (82 rubini, 21.600 a/h, 4 martelli e gong, Grande Sonnerie, Petite Sonnerie, Ripetizione Minuti, Carillon Westminster, indicatore della riserva di carica per la suoneria e per il movimento visibile lato quadrante e tourbillon visibile lato fondello in zaffiro).
L’autonomia di marcia per il meccanismo è di 48 ore, per la Grande Sonnerie è di 24 ore mentre per la Petite Sonnerie è di 28 ore. Il meccanismo della suoneria è azionato, non da un cursore a slitta, ma da un pulsante. Grazie a una sorta di tunnel che gira intorno al meccanismo e che crea una specie di “sound box” il suono risulta meglio diffuso ed esaltato.
Impermeabile fino a 30 metri, l’orologio è abbracciato al polso con un cinturino in pelle di alligatore con fibbia in titanio.

The new Bulgari Octo Grande Sonnerie, driven by BVL Calibre 703 hosted in a titanium case of 44 millimeters. This mechanical self-winding movement (21.600 vph, 82 jewels) performs the Grande and Petite Sonnerie, Minute Repeater, Westminster Chime functions, 4 hammers and gongs, 48-hour power-reserve indicator for the movement and for the striking mechanism (24 hours in Grande Sonnerie mode, 28 hours in Petite Sonnerie mode) and Tourbillon.
The complex Grande Sonnerie mechanism, which includes a tourbillon, is housed within the new Octo case redesigned. The choice of titanium was guided by technical imperatives; in fact its resistance, lightness and low density combine to offer the best possible chiming characteristics.
To optimise the sound as well as its diffusion it have been created a “sound box“: the case middle with a DLC black surface features striped lateral grooves which combine with a circular inner tunnel housed in the case middle and surrounding the movement. In this way, both the amplification and the propagation of the sound are thus notably enhanced while reducing the weight of the watch. The decision to secure the movement to the case by internal “ears” (wings) was a deliberate choice for functional reasons: this distinctive construction also contributes to optimising the transmission of the vibrations generated by the striking mechanism.
Among the other innovations applied to this creation, the striking mechanism is activated not by a sliding bolt but instead via a pusher which thereby ensures water resistance to 30m; while innovative rotating selectors serve to choose between Strike/Silence and Grande Sonnerie/Petite Sonnerie modes.
On the display, beneath the sapphire crystal, a single element (in the shape of a minute circle bearing anthracite black hour-markers and two power-reserve segments respectively dedicated to the movement and the striking mechanism) ensure an unobstructed view of the movement. The back of the case is sandblasted and fitted with a sapphire crystal panel reveals the tourbillon mechanism.
The rubber-coated alligator leather strap has a titanium folding clasp.
